Bengt Orup Grapa Vase pair - (Item #1524)

Rare pair of 1952 engraved and painted Grapa vases by post war modernist artist/sculptor Bengt Orup (1916-1996) for Johansfors (Sweden). These are one of three pieces (vase; bowl and sculpture) in the Grapa series, the first series that he designed in 1952 after becoming artistic director at Johansfors. They are of heavy clear crystal with the engraved patterns painted in black. Each is hand engraved on the base "Orup Johansfors Sweden"
Dimensions: 12.5-ins tall. Each weighs 4lbs-9oz
Condition: One shown on left is near perfect with light surface scratche (see photos) on side. The other shown on right has three chips under the rim (see photo). Otherwise in excellent confition for their age.
